Celebrating Success: On the 14th and 15th of September 2024, the Standardbred Association of Qld held the 18th Annual State Hacking and Harness Championships.
44 Standardbreds competed, comprising of two colts, one stallion, 30 geldings and 10 mares. This also included four partbred Standardbreds and five horses that were rehomed through the SAQ Adoption Program.
The refreshed event program saw some additional versatility classes be added alongside led racing Standardbred classes that went to a championship award. It was lovely to see these classes supported and SAQ are looking forward to seeing them contested again next year.
The Standardbred Adoption Feature was held in the indoor arena on the Saturday evening this year, which was a great addition to the Track to Hack Finale.
The weather was beautiful and Gatton Showgrounds continues to be the perfect setting for a wonderful weekend of horse showing. The competing Standardbreds were presented at an exceptionally high standard, which was wonderful to see.
It was great to welcome some new faces and horses this year, along with our seasoned showies. Sportsmanship was at an all time high, encouraging the friendly and supportive culture that we strive to uphold.
A special thank-you to our major sponsors Redmond’s Pet and Livestock Supplies, Teichmann Photography, Maxine’s Mainly Roses, Plum Tack and Perfectly Pulsed Therapy. Your support as always is greatly appreciated.
Thank-you so much to our judges, the competitors, volunteers and spectators who attended throughout the weekend. The committee looks forward to another successful event in 2025!
