SAQ Welcomes 2024

As the Standardbred Association of Queensland (SAQ) welcomes the dawn of a new year, we find ourselves reflecting on the remarkable journey that brought us to this point. Celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2023, the SAQ has become an integral part of Queensland’s equestrian community, fostering the welfare and well-being of Standardbred horses.

Now in its 22nd year of operation, the Horse Placement Program has successfully re-homed over 1200 Standardbred horses, providing them with loving homes and second chances. This milestone exemplifies the dedication of our members and the positive impact of collaborative efforts in ensuring the welfare of these magnificent animals.

Also at the heart of the Standardbred Association of Queensland’s mission is the cultivation of a vibrant and inclusive community of horse enthusiasts. Through our unwavering commitment to the promotion of Standardbred horses, over the years we have curated a diverse array of competitions, clinics, and events tailored for our members to both enjoy and showcase the exceptional qualities of these remarkable equines.

Beyond our equine re-homing and event endeavours, the SAQ actively participates in initiatives  such as supporting the Healing with Horsemanship program, which recognizes the therapeutic bond between humans and horses. Our involvement in welfare advocacy underscores our mission to be stewards of these wonderful creatures, advocating for their rights and well-being in every possible way.

As we stride into 2024, the SAQ is poised for another year of accomplishments and growth. With gratitude for the past and enthusiasm for the future, we look forward to continuing our commitment to the Standardbred breed and expanding our positive influence within the community. The SAQ remains dedicated to promoting responsible horse ownership, facilitating equine well-being, and fostering a supportive environment for all horse enthusiasts.
