About Sparkey
Sparkey is an 11yo Bay Standardbred gelding who retired from a very successful racing career in December 2021 after having 120 starts and earning just over $156,000.
He retired due to a minor suspensory injury (front near side) but has been given time to heal and has since been deemed sound and healthy by his vet.
Sparkey has character and has been known to open a gate if it’s not latched properly. He likes to put his ears back and act scary, but really just wants a cuddle. He is well mannered and very good to handle, shoe, worm, tie up, float and do anything with.
Sparkey likes to be with another horse as he calls out when left on his own. He has been exposed to farm machinery, vehicles, other animals and children with ho issues.
Sparkey has not been started under saddle but would not take much to start with someone with experience. He would excel in the show ring with his good looks and conformation but would also suit dressage or pleasure/trail riding once educated in his chosen discipline.
Sparkey’s owners would like to see him find a loving home where he can find a new purpose in life.
