About Marven

Marven is a 7yo Bay Standardbred gelding who retired from his racing career on 10th October, 2023 after having 101 starts and earning $134,858 for his owners. He retired due to a cracked pedal bone which is currently in the process of healing. He has been X-Rayed and the vet diagnosis was 3 months box rest (which is now completed) and a further 3 month of being kept in a small yard with no running. Full recovery and soundness are expected and he should have no issues once he has completed the required healing period. Healing period should be completed by end of March 2024. For this reason, Marven will require someone that can keep him in a small yard for another 8 weeks prior to commencing retraining.

Marven’s owner says he is an absolute pleasure to have around, a real gentleman and is such a gentle boy. He is very well mannered and excellent to handle, shoe, worm, tie up, float and do anything with. He has been exposed to farm machinery, vehicles, other animals and children with no issues. Marven has not been started under saddle but would not take much for someone with experience to educate him in their chosen discipline once his healing period is completed. He would be an ideal pleasure harness horse, but would also excel as a trail riding/pleasure horse. Marven’s owner would love to see him find a home where he will be loved and well cared for.
