About Yorkie
Yorkie is a gentle and sweet natured 13yo Bay Standardbred gelding who retired from racing in July 2021 after having 154 starts and earning $133,984 for his owners.
Yorkie has since been used as a pleasure and endurance driving horse throughout NSW before coming to his current owner in Queensland late last year to continue as a pleasure harness horse. Most recently, Yorkie participated in the Cobb and Co 100 year festival driving from Surat to Yuleba Qld.
Yorkie has also participated in week long harness drives in large groups of drivers. He is easy to manage at the front, middle or back in large groups and is driven in a snaffle bit and dolly varden winkers. He goes in a 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler.
His owner is only rehoming Yorkie due to a change in her circumstances and would prefer Yorkie to be rehomed to someone wanting to continue him in pleasure harness. He would suit a novice harness person, as he is easy going, and had extensive experience in traffic along high traffic and busy roads with no issues.
He is great with the farrier, worming, tying up, and floating – always cooperative and easy to work with.
