About Barry
Barry is a kind hearted 7yo black Standardbred gelding who retired from racing in July 2025 after 32 starts and earning just over $14,000 for his connections.
He ended his racing career after sustaining a back fetlock injury and has spent the past two months rehabilitating, now appears to be fully sound and ready to begin the next stage of his life (see photo above).
Affectionate and sweet natured, Barry loves human attention and is always up for a pat or cuddle. He is an absolute pleasure to have around, with excellent ground manners. He is great to catch, float, worm, tie up, and is well behaved for the farrier. Barry has also been exposed to farm machinery, vehicles and children, taking everything calmly in his stride.
Although he hasn’t yet been started under saddle, Barry’s steady temperament and willing attitude suggest he will adapt quickly with the right guidance. He would thrive in a knowledgeable and patient home that can continue his education and help him transition smoothly into a rewarding new role.
