About Toby
Toby is a sweet natured 7 yo bay Standardbred gelding who retired from racing in March 2025 after 69 starts and earning just over $74,000 for his connections. He finished his racing career after sustaining a bowed tendon and has since spent the past 6 months rehabilitating, giving him the time he needed to recover.
With his kind heart and calm temperament, Toby is a pleasure to have around. On the ground, he is great to handle, well mannered for the farrier, easy to catch, happy to float, worm and tie up without fuss. He is also familiar with farm machinery, vehicles, other animals and children, taking it all in his stride.
Although Toby hasn’t yet been started under saddle, his steady nature suggests he will adapt well with the right guidance. He would be best suited to a knowledgeable and patient home that can continue his education and help him ease into a new role beyond racing.
