About Ryder
Ryder is a lovely 5yo bay Standardbred gelding with a gentle and easy going temperament.
He retired from racing in August 2025 after just 4 starts, earning a little over $5,000 for his connections. His racing career was cut short due to an offside front bowed tendon, but after two months of rehabilitation, Ryder is now sound at a trot and ready to move on to the next chapter of his life (see photo).
This sweet natured gelding has a placid personality and enjoys human company. Ryder is a delight to handle on the ground, he is easy to catch, float, worm, tie up, and stands well for the farrier. He is familiar with farm machinery, vehicles, other animals and children, handling everything with his usual calm and sensible nature.
While he hasn’t yet been started under saddle, Ryder’s kind nature and willing attitude suggest he will take to training with confidence and ease under the right guidance. He would be best suited to a patient and caring home where he will continue to grow in confidence and enjoy the love and attention he deserves.
