To talk to someone about adoption
Joey is 5yo Bay Standardbred gelding who has just retired from racing in June 2023 after only having 18 starts and earning just over $5,400. Joey retired sound, just too slow and not cut out to be a racehorse.
While he may not have had the speed for the racetrack, Joey’s gentle nature and friendly demeanor make him an absolute sweetheart. He is well mannered, great to handle, worm, tie-up, float, catch and do anything with. He has been exposed to other horses, cars, machinery, trucks, dogs and children, with no issues. In fact, he has become quite fond of his little 5-year-old neighbour, who regularly visits and feeds him, as shown in the adorable photos above.
Joey has not been started under saddle but his owner believes he will transition to a saddle horse easily due to his sensible and easy going nature. He is a blank canvas, eagerly awaiting someone to shower him with love and provide him with an education in their chosen discipline.
Joey is a stable favourite, being bred, raised and raced by his current owner, and she would love to see him find a forever home where his new adopted owner can bring out his true potential.
