About Sunny
Kelsey is a much loved 11yo Bay/Brown Standardbred mare who retired from racing in November 2021 (was a trotter, not a pacer) after having 160 starts and earning just over $53,000.
Kelsey is well mannered, good to handle, worm, tie-up, float & catch. She can be timid and unsure until she gets to know you. Kelsey has been exposed to vehicles, farm machinery, other animals and children and takes everything in her stride.
Kelsey was started under saddle 12 months ago, and in that time has done many trail rides and has been to several events including cattle work, horseback archery, low level dressage and show jumping. Kelsey is still learning leg aids, but she is beginning to become more balanced and more confident to canter. She will require someone with experience as she has huge movement and is quite sensitive and relies on her rider’s confidence.
Kelsey has had a significant over reach injury in her paddock (very hilly) and needs to wear bell boots at home in her paddock to prevent further injuries.
Her owner is hoping that she can find a home with a flat paddock and believes this will help her.
